Design Wall, February 27, 2012

Yay, I finished the top (I think). I really enjoyed making this and I love the colors. But I was wondering, should I include a border on the top and bottom. I did a mock-up below to see what it might look like. I'm leaning toward no border, but my husband likes it better with...what do you think?

Then I also started a charity quilt with strips. The colors are pretty awful here, but I think you get the idea. These are  strips I cut from the guild stash and am making into a quilt to encourage others in the guild to do the same. I'm making 3 more strip sets so people can just  pick them up and make what they want. Hope it works.

I like the border. It adds a boundary, so the eye doesn't just keep going.

Mary that quilt is gorgeous. Is that your own design? I just love it. Honestly I don't know if I like it better with or without the border. I'm leaning towards without, but I think that's because I look at the picture without and it's turned the other way, so when I try to imagine the border on that one, it looks better with out (I know not much of an imagination huh :) But the picture with the border looks great too. Glad I don't have to decide :) Would love to know more about the pattern.

Yes, I like it with the small squares and the top and bottom.

What a stunning quilt! Was it a pattern or your own design? I actually like it with the borders on--makes it sparkle. Great job!

That is so cool! It looks great without a border, but the border you show would look good too.

Well I'm not going to be any help at all. When I saw the 1st pic I was "yeah, no border" but then I saw the 2nd pic and it was "oh I like that too" -I don't think you can go wrong either way because it is a striking quilt either way.

The black and bold quilt is great. I personally agree with hubby and say go with the borders.

I really like your Modern Bargello. It's different, inspiring, and has lovely places for quilting!
(I do like the border at both ends.)

Well I lean toward no border - but I like it with too - lots of help, aren't I? Great idea on the charity quilt, I love the pinwheel effect!

It's beautiful as it is - my preference would be to leave the border off
