Design Wall Monday

This is the quilt I made with my sister this weekend. We had such fun. She made one too. I used all of the solid fabrics from our guild challenge. I like the way it turned out.

Here is my sisters. She is making it for her grand daughter who picked out the fabric (with some guidance.)

Look What Norece Made

Norece sent me an email sharing the quilt that she made using my pattern. She bought the hand-dyed  fabric from Vicki Welsh. It is about 100 inches square.

Her version is much larger than mine. I ended up not adding the small squares along the edges, but I really like how they look. I never posted a picture of my finished quilt, but I just added batting and backing then bound it. I'll see if I can dig one up and share it.

If you want to make one, I make up guidelines. It's not really a pattern in that it doesn't tell you how much of what to buy, or step-by-step directions. It just gives dimensions for the pieces needed. You can find it here. I did post sorta-kinda fabric requirements for the quilt I made here.

Found a picture of mine finished, it's not a great picture but you get the idea. I used multicolored dotted fabric for the back and pebbled the whole quilt, large in the background and much smaller in the colored squares. If you click on it you might be able to see the quilting.

Thanks Norece, for sending me the picture. I think you might have inspired me to make another one of these.

Design Wall 2 February 2013

Finished the top now I need to quilt it. I'm going to use minkee that was donated by a friend. You may notice the last row...yes it's on upside down. I'll take it apart and make it right before I quilt it! It was late and I just didn't notice till after it was all together and pressed. I have pastel colors for the backing/batting, but only a yard of each so it will have to be pieced.

I still have a couple more baby quilts to make. I think I may take one of the tops I have done already and use one of them. Maybe this one. It is still just a flimsy so needs to be used, and it is nice and bright.

Design Wall 28 January 2013

This is a very fast small quilt, only about 30 x 40. This is for the guild charity. I still need to find a bit of fleece to back it. This is a free pattern that can be found here. The fabric I used is from my stash...yay!
This one is another for the guild charity. I have had this pattern for a while, and found the pattern here.  I think I will use fleece for this one as well. A simple quilt pattern, maybe in the zig-zags.

I sewed with a friend this weekend that got me started quilting again, thanks Deb! I picked out the fabrics, cut the fat quarters up and made the first top in a jiffy. I got all the blocks done for the zig-zag quilt and put it together yesterday. It feels good to be doing some sewing again.
