I'm Stuck

I don't know what to do with the border. I'm thinking a thin inner border, then maybe 4-patch blocks with black and the ombre fabric, but I can't get the picture in my brain. Maybe a simple border of the ombre fabric, then a wider black fabric. I also thought it might be interesting to have a scalloped border. Here are some mock-ups. What do you think? You can click on the picture to see a larger one.

The scalloped border looks nice but wouldn't it be hard to sew?!?

I vote for the 4-patch's. And definitely a black inner border to frame the blocks. LOVE this pattern and the fabrics!!

I love the scalloped border and I do think I'd put a narrow black strip between the border and the blocks.

They both look great! I am more drawn to the one of the right, the checked border! Have fun with it. :)

I think a small inner black border and then the 9 patches. Love this quilt and need to look for some of that type of fabric.

Hm.....gosh that's pretty....I like the scalloped border better, not too sure about the 4-patch. The pattern on this quilt is so strong and lovely, I think the simpler the better.

That's a hard task you put out for us so I can see where you're stuck. I like both borders and think they are both successful. If I had to pick (and I wasn't doing the work :0)because it's more time consuming) I'd pick the scallops. Why, because it's different. I would "expect" to see the 4-patches.

I like both of them so I'm no help at all! I like the softness of the 1/2 circles but think the 4-patches go with the design better. Either will look great!

I am abysmal with borders. Both ideas looked good to me but the ninepatch seemed to be easier so might finish faster.

Whatever you choose, make sure to add a dark plain border first, so that the pieced border will stand out. Your blocks are great!

I love the quilt. I think the 4 patch border looks really good with your blocks.

The four patches would be the "traditional" way to go, but something about the scallops appeals to my eye. Maybe it is the curves breaking up the straight lines.

I vote for the one on the right with the checkerboards. It spoke to me. LOL

Love your quilt. Both options seems to be OK. Nr. 1 seems to require more work with the circles seams but in my opinion the check borders with straight seams will go better with the main top.
Happy quilting. Ivani

I really like your quilt with the 4 patch blocks. I tend to like the sameness in the quilt and then do circles or curves with the quilting.

at first glance I like the scallops - but then I think that would be hard

My vote is the four patch!

Wonderful design wall creations! 8-)
On first view, the scalloped border grabbed my eyes...

I like the four-patch border better, but like others have mentioned, I think a dark strip between the border and the blocks would finish it better. Love the quilt!
