Design Wall Monday

Three more rows and the top is done. I like the "travel blocks" and the way the whole quilt is turning out. I think I am going to have to add a darker fabric between the border and the rest of the quilt. I don't know how wide I am going to make the border, but the top needs something. The border fabric I found has antique maps of the world. I think a bit narrower and some other fabric (maybe the dark blue) between the top and the border will work.

I went to help sew a quilt top with a local group that gets together once a month. We nearly got one top done. There were 6 of us sewing, but two were working on a different quilt top. We will meet again in two weeks (we had a 2 week delay because of snow).

If you want to see what other quilters are doing, check out Judy's Blog.

The travel blocks are very cool and quite eyecatching in this quilt. Great job!

What about putting the lighter blue cornerstones and dark blue sashing to finish off the edges of the blocks and then the border?

Like your travel quilt.... what a great way to stick in pictures ... did you print out your own photos or are they fussy cut from fabric. (forgive me if you've already explained this ... memory is questionable some times..

The blue in the cornerstones would be nice as a border too with the darker blue to frame it all. I like the fun travel theme.

YOur top is looking great. I tend to put a very narrow (1-2") enclosure border on and then a fairly wide outer border so I can really see what is usually the focus fabric. Would love to see your outer border fabric.

I love the way you have put pictures of famous places into that quilt.

This quilt has great color and "play" - the eye really moves around - I love it! I do agree about adding a darker inner border, I think it will really set the whole thing off.
