New Look

As you can see, I've changed the colors and other stuff. It was time. I would love to move the furniture in my house, but I can't the rooms are such that things fit just about one way...so I find change where I can.

Spin Cycle...Done

I'm feeling pretty good about finishing tops lately. I quilted very simply...just along both sides of the sashing and then a small octagon in the kaleidoscopes. I'm going to send this to a niece. I still have many more tops to finish. I guess it's time to count again, so I know how many I have left.

Quilting the Top

There is just so much room under the harp. It makes me laugh sometimes when I look at something like this. The quilt is a twin. I have quilted a larger quilt but not recently. I'm quilting around the blocks, just inside the sashing, then I'm going to do something in the blocks, but I don't know what yet. I was just sitting here working on moving the quilt through, and thought about how much fabric I have in there...but I still like it.

Because I'm using the walking foot, it's actually pretty easy and accurate to get the thing done on straight lines. I hope will be quilted this weekend, then on to the next.

...and what happens when you don't get all the bits of fabric off the table. I get to do some surgery!

Pinning

I'm working on quilting another top. I bought fleece for backs for about 6 quilts, so I am trying to get them done. This is the way I pin the tops with fleece. I put the fleece down, and just smooth out the part that is nearest me on the edge of the table. The rest of it remains bunched up on the back of the table. I put the top on the fleece and start pinning. I smooth and pin as I go. I don't stretch the fleece taut, just smooth it out. This works for me, and I don't need a huge table to get it done.

I don't know how I am going to quilt this one yet. But I'll start with outlining the blocks somehow, then maybe quilt in the kaleidoscopes.

Another Finish

Yay! Another quilt finished. This one has a nice chocolate brown fleece for batting/backing. I quilted around each block in the quilt, and then a bit more quilting around the pieced interlocking squares. I think that will hold it together enough. I turned the fleece backing to the front to bind it...DONE!

Beaded Bookmarks

Lookee what I made. These are bookmarks. I've seen them in bookstores for about $15. I've bought beads for a while, so had a bit of a stash. They were pretty easy to make. I think I'm going to make a number of them for Christmas.

I really didn't need to find another hobby, but I don't think I'll go hog wild with this one (at least I hope not). If you're interested in making one , you can follow this tutorial.
