Spin Cycle...Done

The consensus was the pink for the border, so I went with the wisdom of the crowds. I think it was a good choice. I'm already ready for the next project, but I don't know what...maybe a delectable mountains with stripes. I bought the striped fabric a a couple of weeks ago, and want to do something with it.

Here is a mock up. I'm thinking I might have some pink as well as the blue...so that there is some more variety.

Just Needs Borders...Opinions Please

The borders were supposed to be pink, but I'm thinking I might want to use the fabric I used for the Kaleidoscopes--that's what I did for the last one I made. Maybe I'll do a mock-up with both and see which one says it for me.

So, what do you think...pink, green or fabric from the kaleidoscope blocks??

Spin Cycle...with Sashing

Here it is with the sashing just set in place. Looking at the picture I think the pink might be TOO pink, but I'll live with it for now.

A Bit More Progress

Here is some more progress. Triangles on each kaleidoscope to make them squares. I'm sewing the sashing strips now, and should have more progress later today.

Yesterday, 8 inches of snow, today sunny and the snow is melting. The view today is quite different from yesterday, but I like them both!

All the blocks

Here are all the blocks. I can't seem to get the colors right. There is lots of light from the window, but it's snowing outside so it doesn't quite do justice to the colors. I don't know enough about photography to be able to adjust the colors to get them just right, but this is close. Next comes the sashing--I thought I bought pink for the center, but its a nice lavender. So, cream lavender, cream. The cornerstones will be pink though. I better get to it if I want to get this top done this week. I'll post more progress later.

New Beginning...Spin Cycle

Well, I have begun a new quilt. I couldn't find the fabric for the wall hanging so decided to go ahead with the stack n whack quilt. I am always happily surprised with the blocks that come out of a fabric. I didn't expect this much pink when I looked at it yesterday, but I must have noticed it when I bought it, because I picked pink as one of the major accent fabrics.

Four done, and only 8 more to go. I'll post again when I get some more done.

...and here are some more. This one is going to be fun, I think. The sashing will be a cream and then pink in the middle.

Spin Cycle Top-finished and Quilt for and Hour

Thanks to Marilyn's suggestion I figured out what to do with the border. She reminded me of the pink-peach batik I had. I tried it as the border, and it was a bit too light, but then I though of adding the fabric I used for the blocks. Because of the way the blocks are cut, I only had 22" widths of the fabric, and didn't think I would like so many seams in the border, so I added 1" strips of the pink, I think it finishes off the quilt, without adding too much heaviness, thanks Marilyn.

I am still working on the Quilt for an Hour. I have all the pieces for the blocks put together, now I just have to assemble the blocks. Once that is done, it should be a quick job to put the top together.

Yesterday was my birthday, and one of the local quilt shops gives you half of your age as a discount during your birthday week--how could I pass up a 27% discount? I decided I like the spin cycle pattern so much, that I bought more fabric to make another one; but it will be quite a different look. The cream is the background, the purple the strips in the middle of the sashing, and the pink, the cornerstones and border. At the moment I really like it.
