Works in Progress

A project just jumped to the top of the list. I have a friend whose son was in Afghanistan. He just came home injured (a double amputee above the knee) and I am going to make him a quilt. He has a long road ahead. I'll be working on the quilt as soon as I get information about what colors or theme he would like.

January 14, 2012. The list shows 37, but 11 of them are done, so that's 26, still ouch, but better.

Here are projects that still need work. I think there are more than I've listed here. If I come across them later I'll add then. Right now (December 20, 2010) I have 24. I'm going to try to work on them this year and get a lot of them done. I'll mark progress here.

-DONE and gifted Christmas 2011--This one needs borders and then sandwiching.

-I think I have one more of these blocks done. I have the rest of the fabric put aside, ready to be worked on

and 4-DONE-This is cord I've dyed to make more bowls. I have one more dyed in oranges and yellows. I was able to make two "bowls from this cording. I like the way they look. They're going to the guild auction. I still have the orange/yellow cord.
-The fabrics aren't correct here, but I am planning to make a tumbling blocks quilt for my husband. I've been dying fabrics in dark medium and light to make this one.
-DONE and gifted April 2011--I need to decide on the border for this one, then sandwich and quilt it.
Done and finished on January 29th. Just in time to be really finished for the UFO challenge that Judy is hosting. This one is done
-Again, the border then sandwich and quilt it.
-This one needs to be sandwiched and quilted. (I'm seeing a pattern here)
-Again the quilting....what's up with that!
-I actually have a few more of the Dresden plates done, and in one more size. I like this one, so I don't think it will be hard to finish. Finished the top, so partway there--see?
-This is just a partial picture of the top. I made it into a duvet cover first, but the top didn't have any sort of backing and I was afraid it would fall apart. I want to either make it into a quilt, or add a fabric back and then into a duvet again.

-This is a wall hanging. Needs to be sandwiched and quilted.
- Another wall hanging. Just two pieced of fabric, cut up, then sewn back together. I think it would be a great background for something. I don't know what, but something.
-the beginnings of a tessellated fish quilt. I don't know if I"ll ever finish it. I'll have to wait and see
-Yet another wall hanging. You'd think I have them all over the house, but I don't.
-This one is just a design. I've collected Hawaiian fabric and I'm looking to make a quilt from them. I don't know if this is the one, but at least it will remind me that I have a bunch of fabric waiting to be used together.
- I quilted this once, then un-quilted it. I really like it, so need to do it One. More. Time.
- another one that I started and I'm not sure what to do with. I'll figure something out, but I have to remember I have the blocks so I can finish it.
- I like the idea of this, but not the execution (maybe it just needs to be executed!)

- I hope this is finished before January 21...a birthday deadline. It's almost all quilted, but a lot of the quilting came out yukky...can't decide if I want to take it all out or not.

- DONE and kept--Pieces and bits and parts. A totally tubular quilt that is a pain in the butt, but I'll finish it. I think it will be fine. I just have to sit down and focus. Finished February 25, 2011 with 3 days to spare. I'm a happy camper.
-Not started, but lots of directions have been collected. This is a design I've wanted to make for a long time, so it's one the list.
- Just needs to be sandwiched and quilted.
-DONE and gifted Christmas 2011-Another one for the quilting phase. Why do I wait so long to get these quilted. It's really not tough. I'm not a master quilter, but I enjoy doing simple lines that keep the layers together and then they can be  used. 6 April 2011

Eeek, I keep finding more projects that need to be completed. I'll add them as I find them. These were added on 1 January 2011-Happy New Year!

-DONE and donated January 2011-- One more I just found, and it's not very old. Finished in late January 2011. Donated to the guild for a charity quilt.
- I suppose I should add the professional bags that I have all the material for, even though they haven't been started.
-Done and sold October 2011 another bag I finished this one...YAY. These bags take a long time but I like the result.
-pillowcases to finish embroidering
- Third week in October quilt. This one is going to take a long time, but I moved one step closer this summer. I made the "pattern" for it much larger. When I first bought the pattern I colored it, this summer I printed it so that it is about 3 x 5 feet so I can actually see what I am doing. I think I've had this probably 7 or 8 years.

Holy Macaroli, I have to stop looking around my sewing room. Here are 3 more projects, and it's only 7:40 AM on New Years Day.

- more blocks for another tumbler's quilt
- more fabric/pillowcases for shopping bags. I also bought a 100' roll of cotton webbing to use for handles. It's not as nice as the stuff I bought in the fabric store, but it was only $.26 per foot rather than the $.89 I was paying.
- DONE and being used A shirt for me from last year. I only need to finish a few bits but I can't get motivated. Maybe listing it will help. I'm not even going to list all of the fabric I have for shirts for Joe waiting to be made. I just counted it's about 16. I finished this shirt, but still have PLENTY more fabric that needs to be made into shirts for Joe and me. In fact, I bought fabric for me for three more, yikes.

-Oh my. I was just looking for some other fabric and found the kit I bought who knows how long ago for the Moonglow quilt. I don't have to buy any fabric for the next 10 or so years at least.

-DONE and gifted February 2011--February 19, 2011. I found two more in a tub...when will it end. This one is getting quilted today, so will be out of the list, but still. I don't have a picture of the second one, and I didn't take it out of the tub, so I'll have to get one later, but that makes 35. OUCH. Quilted and sent to my niece on February 21 for her shower on the 26th.

Aaaack! I have to add some more.

- DONE and gifted Christmas 2011 I need to add this one. I just put it together. 9/30/11

- I was in a long spell of not sewing at all, so pulled out this extra fabric I had from a previous SnW. This was simple to do.
