My Stash, and Autumn

I have almost all of the fabric in the cubbies now. I have lots that is designated for projects in other places, but this is most of what I bought because I liked it. There's a bit on both edges you can't see very well, but it's not too full. The three bottom left cubbies are full of quarter and half yards. I don't know that I'll keep them like that, but I don't know how I'll make it more accessible. I'll have to go through the plastic containers I still have that have projects in them and figure out how I am going to store them. Right now they're under the sewing table--I think I need to label them so I know what I have, so I know what I will work on next. Maybe I'll make a list--hmm, what a concept. I'm still working on the layout of my "studio" (thanks Penny--I never thought of it as that!) I have the table pushed in the corner, so have more floor space. I've put the comptuer in the room, and now I have to figure out where I'm going to put the bits and pieces that are still in the hutch.

I think I'm going to work on the binding for a quilt that is more than a year overdue. I've had it quilted since the end of June--but no time for binding yet. I would love to get it out and to the proper person. I'll let you know if that actually happens.
Here's a picture of my backyard (or would that be my side yard?) from yesterday. We are having a beautiful autumn. Last year, if I remember correctly, we had already had a couple of snow storms, and the leaves had already dropped by this time. When I left work on Friday it was about 84 degrees.

The closet--closer to sewing

I've actually moved some sewing things into the sewing room. Isn't it wonderful? I bought the bins last year and have been using them. The cubbies I bought about 2-3 months ago at Costco. I love them. You can see how I will be putting the fabric. I hope I have enough cubby holes to fit all the fabric. I may have to divest myself of some fabric if I have too much.

Woo Hoo!

Can we call it done?

Well, this my friends is a floor. And that up there, that is a ceiling... and lights! I couldn't be prouder if I had done it myself--wait, I did do it myself--with a bit of help from my honey!

I can begin moving stuff in and I hope by next weekend I will be sewing again. There is still finish work to be done. The blue around the window isn't a decorative touch, it's painters tape to keep the cold out. Luckily it isn't very cold yet. But still, YIPPEE!!!

Oh and on a bit of a sewing note (sort of) the machine on the left is from my Grandpa, an old Kenmore; and the one on the right is the treadle I bought this summer. I don't know where they'll go permanently yet, but they're in the sewing room.

...

More... floor and trees

Here's the floor before we began, old linoleum from the 60s I think.

Here's what the floor will look like when it's done. It actually matches the color of the wall a bit better.

We worked on the floor some yesterday. It's a bit more than halfway done. We ended up having to go down the hill to get more underlayment so we didn't get as much done as we wanted (or as I wanted to). I want to get my stuff in there and start sewing again. I'm going to be a brave woman and see if I can get some of the floor in myself today. That way I can begin to move in and set stuff up. The ceiling molding still isn't done, but I figure that it can be finished when my sewing things are in the room.

We did take some time to see the aspens changing color up the mountain. I took a couple of pictures in the yard the day before, and then a couple that I like when we were driving. It was a short drive, but just about the perfect time. I think if we had waited till next weekend the leaves would have fallen.

Aaaaaalllllllmmmmmooooosssssttttt done...

The ceiling is nearly done, the light is installed, the other wall is painted and the floor needs to be done. Then, looks like I may have a sewing room!

I was at the Estes Park Highland Games last weekend so I didn't get anything done. I don't have a lot of pep after work, so didn't get any of the work done this week, but tonight I got the base coat on the wall, and tomorrow morning I will paint the stripes. Once I'm done with that, I'll install the rest of the ceiling and then start cleaning all the tools out so we can put in the floor.

It's laminate and should only take a couple of hours, so I may have a complete room (oh, except for the molding around the windows and along each newly painted wall, oh, and the crown molding to finish up the ceiling, and...well, you see how it goes, the job just seems to keep on growing!
